Eat Electricity is a music and art project by Geoff Bennett, formerly of Toronto rock & rollers The Mark Inside. Having spent more than a decade in the local, regional and national music scene trenches, Geoff watched and experienced major changes in the industry as they happened. Which is a nice way of saying, "The ship was sinking and it took forever to get any music released. That shit was frustrating!"
No more! Eat Electricity is a concentrated effort to take back that autonomy, and to that end Geoff writes, records, and releases his music as often as it comes into his head. He designs his album art, posters and t-shirts...hell, he even writes his own press releases! And he writes them in the third person! What a fucking windbag!
Anyway, in early 2016, Geoff set a personal challenge to write, record and release a 5-song EP every two months. "Tooth House and Sick Teen" is a 10-song collection of homespun instrumental dance music culled from those releases. ("Homespun" being used here as a euphemism for "no budget.") The songs were largely recorded on the spot as they were written, and the end result is music that builds in steady layers, mixing mechanized rhythms with melodic, loose & improvised guitar, bass and synth lines.
Thanks for reading/listening, and enjoy!
